Jean Paulhan, born in Nîmes December 2 1884, died in Paris le October 9 1968, was a French writer, critic and publisher.

He was the lover of Anne Desclos (who wrote Story of O as a love letter to him), as well as one of the authors defending the lettrist Michel Mourre.
