The Palme d'Or ("Golden Palm") is the highest prize given to a competing film at the Cannes Film Festival. It was introduced in 1955 by the organizing committee. From 1902 to 1954, the highest accolade had been called the Grand Prix du Festival International du Film.

The Palme d'Or was not awarded from 1964 to 1974; it was replaced by the Grand Prix.
