Anton Jäger (°1994) is a Belgian historian and publicist known for publications such as Hyperpolitik: Extreme Politisierung ohne politische Folgen (2023).

The son of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Gerhard Jäger and a self-described Marxist, his work deals with history of ideas, specifically the relationship between capitalism and democracy.

Jäger studied at the University of Essex and Cambridge and received his doctorate from the latter university in 2020. Since then, he has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Higher Institute of Philosophy of the KU Leuven.

He is the author of Kleine anti-geschiedenis van het populisme (2018), Onder populisten: Pamflet over een onbegrepen probleem (Paul Verbraekenlezing, 2022) and Welfare for Markets: A Global History of Basic Income (with Daniel Zamora Vargas, 2023).

Since 2022, he has been a columnist for De Morgen. Jäger is a contributor to Apache, De Standaard, De Groene Amsterdammer, Jacobin, Sidecar and Lava, among others.
