Power of Women is a topos, found in literature as well as the visual arts. The Lai d' Aristote is a famous example. Others include Samson and Delilah, Adam being tempted by Eve, Salome and John the Baptist and Virgil suspended in a basket.
It is related to antifeminist literature of the Middle Ages.
