Poland, officially the Republic of Poland, is a country in Central Europe bordered by Germany to the west; the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south; Ukraine and Belarus to the east; and the Baltic Sea, Lithuania and Russia, to the north.

Famous people

World famous poets and writers include Jan Potocki, Witold Gombrowicz, Bruno Schulz, Jerzy Kosinski and Stanisław Lem. Film directors include Roman Polański, Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Andrzej Munk and Andrzej Zulawski. The traditional Polish music composers include world famous pianist Frederic Chopin. Other notable people from Polish descent are Roland Topor, Hans Bellmer, Walerian Borowczyk, Jan Lenica and Pola Negri.
