Nec mergitur ou La Vérité sortant du puits[1] (Hôtel de ville d’Amboise) is a painting by Édouard Debat-Ponsan.

Ponsan was a Republican and veteran of the War of 1870 and he engaged in the struggle for rehabilitation of Captain Alfred Dreyfus, he exhibited this allegorical painting at the 1898 Salon, and it was later offered to Émile Zola.
