ChatGPT is a prototype artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI that specializes in dialogue. The chatbot is a large language model fine-tuned with both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques. The base model that was fine-tuned was OpenAI's GPT-3.5 language model, an improved version of GPT-3.

DAN (Do-Anything-Now)

ChatGPT generally rejects requests to produce unethical content that violates its content policy. However, some users have developed various prompt engineering techniques to circumvent these restrictions and trick ChatGPT into breaking its own rules.

In early December 2022, users managed to trick ChatGPT into giving instructions on how to create a Molotov cocktail or a nuclear bomb or to manufacture drugs.

Users have gradually developed new approaches to "jailbreak" ChatGPT by asking ChatGPT to pretend to be an alter ego, called DAN, which stands for Do-Anything-Now.
