Widows in (short-lived) mourning is a literary trope exemplified by "The Widow of Ephesus," the oldest existant fragment of the Milesian tales.
In the AT classification scheme of Aarne-Thompson it corresponds to types AT65 (The she-fox's suitors), AT1350, AT1352*, and AT1510.
