White coater is a term used for a type of 1960s and early 1970s "sexploitation" films and refers to the habit of prefacing American and Swedish pornographic films by a doctor who would give an introduction to the graphic content, dressed in a white coat. These films came to be called "white coaters." The educational pretext was intended to circumvent U.S. obscenity laws.
