Daar wordt door de overheid zo goed als niets aan gedaan.
Vandaag sterven een paar duizenden Vlamingen vroegtijdig (wat is dat eigenlijk 'vroegtijdig', kan je eigenlijk 'op tijd' sterven?) door corona.
Daar wordt zestig miljard aan gespendeerd (kosten van de lockdown, raming van gezondheidseconooom Lieven Annemans, vrtnws 2020/03/31).
Velen in mijn omgeving hebben een hekel aan dit soort juxtaposities (naast-elkaar-zettingen) en zij roepen dan verontwaardigd "wacht totdat er geen geld meer is voor uw moeder op intensieve!".
Zij hebben een punt en ook ik word vaak heen en weer geslingerd door paranoia en redelijkheid.
Toch zijn "die Gedanken frei" en blijf ik nadenken want het blijft een feit dat je een euro maar een enkele keer kan uitgeven.
Mijn vrees is dat de GROENE ZAAK de grootste verliezer van de corona-crisis wordt.
Want als we al reserve hadden om de GROENE ZAAK te financieren (dat hadden we amper met ons begrotingstekort van 9 miljard), dan hebben we dat nu zeker niet meer.
Mijn ogen gingen open toen ik dit las bij het vermaledijde Doorbraak.be:
- "Als er geen geld is en de olie staat goedkoop, wie betaalt dan miljarden aan subsidies voor (dure) windmolens, zonnepanelen en gascentrales? We zullen blij zijn als die vliegtuigen eindelijk weer de lucht ingaan, dan kan het cabinepersoneel tenminste weer aan de slag. Het draagvlak voor draconisch dure maatregelen verdwijnt als sneeuw voor de zon wanneer overheidsgeld schaars wordt en mensen (en overheden) in de financiële problemen komen."--29/3/20 Dirk Laeremans [1]
Berichten zoals dit stemmen mij enigszins bedroefd.
Ondanks dat het geweldig is dat de stad naar het platteland ruikt. Dat er amper auto's rondrijden. Dat het heerlijk stil is.

Itke rakastettu maa (Cry, Beloved (Land), 1988)
Pentti Linkola was a Finnish academic and radical ecology-activist.
So radical that in the Anglosphere he is known as an ecofascist.
He first came to the attention outside of Finland when a Dana Milbank interviewed him for the WSJ.
That article was "In His Solitude" (1994), and it cited him as saying:
- "We still have a chance to be cruel. But if we are not cruel today, all is lost."
Being cruel meant that:
- End Third World aid and asylum for refugees, so millions die. Try mandatory abortions for those with two children. And then find some way to get rid of the extra billions of people. With 2.5 times more humans than earth can support, another world war, he says, would be 'a happy occasion for the planet.' RIP Suzy Delair (1917 – 2020)
Suzy Delair was a French actress with a long and fruitful career.
I choose to represent her with one film, Atoll K (1951), the final film of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
The film strangely relevant today in its goofy discussion of statelessness and open borders.
There is one scene where this all comes together when they wish to establish their island as a new republic, with Hardy as president and Laurel as "the people."
They write a constitution declaring their atoll will have no laws, no taxes, and no immigration controls.

RIP Stanley Long (1933 - 2012)
Sometimes a death escapes my attention.
This particular death escaped my attention for eight years.
Stanley Long was a British filmmaker active in what is known as exploitation cinema.
An untypical work, Naughty! (1971) is recommended for including scenes of the Wet Dream Film Festival (1970).
The film is a laudable attempt to fictionalize the history of erotica and is appears to be based on The Other Victorians (1964) which was the first book to revert the received idea of Victorian prudishness. It's similar to way worse movies such as Sexual Freedom in Denmark (1970).
You can watch Naughty as I just did by following site:https://www.eroticage.net "naughty". That 'eroticage.net' site seems interesting because it has lots of vintage erotica films from the golden age of porn.
P.S. While researching Naughty! I found out that William Levy passed away in 2019.

Allen Garfield was an American actor
In my book he is noted for playing a smut peddler in no less than two early Brian de Palma films: Greetings (1968) and Hi Mom! (1968).
In Greetings Garfield praises the imaginary book The Horney Headmaster by Richard P. Long ("beautiful book, tremendous insights!") to Robert de Niro.
In The Conversation, that masterpiece of paranoia, he is the one to describe Hackman as "the best bugger on the West Coast."
The true jewel of the tree films, I mentioned here, is the film Hi Mom! for its 'black experience' episode (but to be honest, Garfield is not in that segment).
RIP Honor Blackman (1925 – 2020)
Honor Blackman was an English actress, known for her sex symbol-ish parts in popular pulp of the sixties (The Avengers, Goldfinger and Jason and the Argonauts).
Radley Metzger cast her as Susan Sills ("the big game hunter, one of the world's most efficient killers") in The Cat and the Canary (1978).
She recorded the surprise hit "Kinky Boots" (1964) and the album Everything I've Got (1964) which featured an interpretation of Serge Gainsbourg's "La Javanaise".

Sergio Rossi was an Italian shoe designer.
I discovered his work by finding a page dedicated to misogynistic advertising.
Here is the image I discovered, white stockings, white shoes, only the legs are visible, in a Mondriaan-like framework.[2]
Disembodied legs as depicted in this Rossi advertisement haven an aphrodisiac effect on me.

I've only read scraps of Auerbach: her remarks on the Carroll photos of Evelyn Hatch and her funny remarks in Our Vampires, Ourselves (1995):

Stuart Gordon is a film director is best-known for his Re-Animator (1985), based on H. P. Lovecraft's "Herbert West—Reanimator" (1922).
The story starts with these lines ominous lines, in keeping with Lovecraft's sinister oeuvre:
"Of Herbert West, who was my friend in college and in after life, I can speak only with extreme terror. Manu Dibango was a Cameroonian saxophonist best-known for his composition "Soul Makossa" (1972), a crucial proto-disco recording.
I also had Gone Clear (1980) and Electric Africa (1985) in my collection.
Only today do I listen for the first time to the whole Soul Makossa (1972) album. It's exquisite, especially "Hibiscus" and the "New Bell" that I already knew.
Now that I listen today, I hear in the bassline of "Soul Makossa" resonances of acid house. Do you hear it too?

Iedereen zijn eigen lintbebouwingwoning! Ik denk dat dat de conclusie moet zijn. Laten we de weilanden ook maar meteen verkavelen. En de bossen. En in Wallonië is ook nog wel wat plaats. Volgens mijn berekeningen kunnen we dan de Belgen mooi over België spreiden. 30689000/11400000 = 2,7 vierkante meter per belg. Net genoeg afstand van Belg tot Belg om geen corona op te lopen.

The Ruby song concludes with the darkly ominous words "If I could move I'd get my gun and put her in the ground."
Yesterday evening, I watched Revolution (1968 film) , it's actually quite good, the sound has been pasted afterwards, I esp. liked the 'interviews' with the squares. It's a pseudo-documentary, making you wonder which parts are acted and stages and which are real. There is a scene in a coffee shop on Haight, wich is called the Drogstore Cafe which is quite real.
