Trial of the Warlock is a novelette by Norman Mailer written in the style of a film script. The story is a rewrite of Là-Bas by Joris-Karl Huysmans, centered around the protagonist of Là-Bas, Durtal.
It appeared in Playboy (December 1976).
It deals with first documented serial killer and pratictioner of Satanism, Gilles de Rais.
