"El brujo postergado" (1933) (English: "The Wizard Postponed" or "The Wizard That Was Made to Wait", also as "The Rejected Sorcerer") is a story by Jorge Luis Borges based on the fourteenth-century tale "Of that which happened to a Dean of Santiago, with Don Illan, the Magician, who lived at Toledo" by Don Juan Manuel, from Tales of Count Lucanor.
The story is collected in A Universal History of Infamy.
Borges concludes the story with the words:
- "(From the Libro de Patronio by the Infante don Juan Manuel, who took it in turn from an Arabic volume, The Forty Mornings and the Forty Nights)"
