- Why did André Breton fail to mention Arcimboldo in "What is Surrealism?." Was Breton not familiar with him? When was Arcimboldo re-discovered? Before Pontus Hultén in 1987 with The Arcimboldo Effect? I believe Arcimboldo was mentioned in Breton's L’Art magique .
The Arcimboldo Effect was an exhibition at the Palazzo Grassi in Venice in 1987 of the work of Arcimboldo, curated by Pontus Hultén.
