The Angel's Game is a prequel to 2001's The Shadow of the Wind by Spanish author Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

It has been acquired by Weidenfeld & Nicolson, who will publish the English edition in late spring 2009. Like The Shadow of the Wind, it will be translated from the Spanish by Lucia Graves, daughter of the poet Robert Graves. The Spanish version was published by Planeta in April 2008.

The Angel's Game is set in Barcelona in the 1920s and 1930s and follows a young writer who is approached by a mysterious figure to write a book. Carlos Ruiz Zafón has revealed that the novel returns to The Cemetery of Forgotten Books - the mythical building in the heart of Barcelona's Raval district, as well as the Sempere & Sons bookshop featured in The Shadow of the Wind.

The Angel's Game promises to be a thrilling tale of lost souls and literary intrigue. Set against the backdrop of a writer struggling with his demons is a page-turning mystery and a love story, which takes place in the dark, narrow alleyways and creaking mansions of the mysterious heart of Barcelona.
