Spreadeagled is a technique whereby a captive is held with the legs apart. In the novel Goldfinger (novel) it is used as a plot device (see Deathtrap (plot device)). James Bond is shackled spreadeagled to a table and a circular saw (a laser in the film) is approaching to cut him in half. The technique is also used in real life to torture pows.
