"Soleil pourri" ('Rotten Sun') is a text by Georges Bataille.
It was published in Documents 2, no. 3 (issue titled "Hommage à Picasso") (1930).
Bataille wrote several more articles that undercut the privileging of vision and the eye ... They are 'Rotten Sun', 'The Jesuve' and 'Pineal Eye' (all reprinted in Visions of Excess). [1]
