"Scenes from a Parallel Life" is the title of an intended four part series of films by Jacques Rivette. Duelle and Noroît were finished in 1976. After these two Rivette began part three "Marie et Julien" with Albert Finney and Leslie Caron, but suffered a nervous breakdown three days into shooting which brought the project to an end. In 2003 Rivette went back to "Marie et Julien" again with Emmanuelle Béart and Jerzy Radzilowitz.
