Rhoticity in English is the pronunciation of the historical rhotic consonant Template:IPA by speakers of English. It is one of the most prominent distinctions by which varieties of English can be classified. The historical English Template:IPA sound is preserved in all pronunciation contexts in the "rhotic varieties".
