Rene Laforgue (1894-1962) was a French psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. Laforgue was born in Thann, Haut-Rhin and studied medicine in Berlin. He maintained a correspondence with Sigmund Freud. He is the author of books on psychoanalysis.

Etudie la médecine à Berlin, devient interne en psychiatrie. Il a fait son analyse avec Eugénie Sokolnicka, correspond avec Sigmund Freud et crée avec René Allendy et Édouard Pichon les premiers cercles freudiens en France, qui donneront naissance en 1926 à la Société Psychanalytique de Paris. Il a eu une attitude controversée pendant la guerre, collaborant notamment avec Matthias Göring, psychiatre allemand nazi. Laforgue a vécu au Maroc et a formé de nombreux analystes comme par exemple Jean Bergeret. Il est notamment connu pour son ouvrage Psychopathologie de l'échec.
