Peinture détournée ("Detourned Painting") is a term coined by Danish artist Asger Jorn in the late 1950s.
Spoerri calls his work a 'détrompe-l'oeil', Asger Jorn named his version peinture détournée and Enrico Baj named his version Modifications.
This type of work of Enrico Baj, Daniel Spoerri and Asger Jorn consisted of superimpositions, overpainting of kitschy paintings bought in flea markets, consistent with the Situationist aesthetic called détournement.
