Pax Americana (Latin: "American Peace") is a term to describe the period of relative peace in the Western world since the end of World War II in 1945, coinciding with the dominant military and economic position of the United States. It is similar to terms used regarding the Roman empire (see Pax Romana) and the British Empire (Pax Britannica).
