Patrick Waldberg' (1913-1985) was a American surrealist poet and the first biographer of Max Ernst. Born in Santa Monica, he was educated in France.
- Patrick Waldberg, né en 1913 à Santa Monica (Californie), mais éduqué en France, a été, d'abord, un de ces jeunes révoltés appelés de ses vœux par André Breton. Breton, qu'il approchera d'ailleurs dès 1934 dans la mouvance du Cercle communiste démocratique de Boris Souvarine. Les rencontres auront été, dans sa vie, déterminantes. Georges Bataille, Roger Caillois, Michel Leiris, André Masson, dans ces années-là... Puis Max Ernst, Yves Tanguy, Roberto Matta... Sans compter ceux de la rue du Château ou du Grand Jeu, les Prévert, Duhamel, Malkine, Sima, etc. Il aura été, ensuite, un guerrier lucide et courageux, engagé volontaire en 1939, puis fondateur, à New York, de la Voix de l'Amérique, où participèrent ses amis : André Breton, Georges Duthuit, Robert Lebel, Denis de Rougemont et autres Etiemble ou Pierre Lazareff. --http://www.ladifference.fr/fiches/livres/acephale.html
