The organ grinder was a musical novelty street performer of the 19th century and the early part of the 20th century, and refers to the operator of a street organ.

References in popular culture

An organ grinder appears in the 1932 "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" movie entitled "Scarface."

A Winston Churchill (British politician, 1874 - 1965) quote, "Never hold discussions with the monkey when the organ grinder is in the room", advises care in choosing the right audience for a discussion or an argument.
