In telecommunications, the term node as used in the field of telecommunications refers to an originating or terminating point of information or signal flow in a telecommunications network. In Network topology the term may also refer to a terminal of any branch of a network or an interconnection common to two or more branches of a network. In this context the term "terminal" means a device that is capable of sending, receiving, or sending and receiving information over a communications channel. Also, the term "network" as used in this context refers to an interconnection of three or more communicating entities.
