Newcleus came in on the first wave of electro hip hop (or electrofunk as it is called in the UK) in the early 1980s. 'Jam On It' was perhaps their most famous single, and ushered in a new sound altogether, hip hop going from the conga rock of the old school to a more programmed sound. This song was ahead of its time in production techniques and general atmosphere.
