The Music Institute was a nightclub in Detroit, one of the epicenters of the underground house movement where Alton Miller and Chez Damier shared residency on Saturday nights. It opened in 1987 and closed in 1989. Derrick May played "Strings of Life" on the closing night, November 24, 1989.
