Michael N. Barnett (born 1960) is a major constructivist scholar in the field of international relations. His research has been in the areas of international organizations, international relations theory, and Middle Eastern politics. Barnett is currently the Harold Stassen Chair of International Affairs in the Hubert Humphrey Institute of Public Policy and Professor of Political Science at the University of Minnesota. He was a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1990 to 2004. He received his B.A. from the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota.
