Kimberly Denise Jones (born July 11, 1974 in Brooklyn, New York), better known by her stage name Lil' Kim or her nickname Queen Bee, is a Grammy Award winning rap artist. Kim rose to fame in the mid 1990s and has become one of the two best selling female rappers of all time (along with Missy Elliott). She has released many hit singles and is the most successful female hip hop artist of all time. She has outlasted every other female rapstress in history with twelve years of experience to solidify her Veteran status. Kim is recognized for helping pave the way for many new and current female MC's. She is the first and only female rapper to receive "5 mics" in The Source for her 2005 album "The Naked Truth." When Lady Marmalade (2001) was released, the single hit number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart making Kim the first female rap artist to have a number-one U.S single. A year later she won hip hops first ever Grammy Award given to a female rapper in world history. In 2005, she was found guilty of felony conspiracy and perjury and was sentenced to a prison in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
