Le Pé (English: The Foot)[1][2] (August 1, 1894), also known as L'amputation du Gruyere (English: The Amputation of the Gruyère" is a photo of the feet and the lower legs of Virginia Oldoini, Countess di Castiglione, taken by Pierre-Louis Pierson. The feet are photographed from the vantage point of the face of the countess, lying down as if she were a corpse). The upper body has been cropped out.

From the marginalia on the photo we know that the photo was taken on August 1, 1894 and this is also where the strange title comes from.

The photo is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
