-Ik heb er toch een tijdje over nagedacht om dit te delen, maar het is té interessant om het niet te doen.
-Zoals jullie de laatste tijd hebben kunnen merken, schrijf ik zeer summiere necrologietjes (oké af en toe wat langer, als het iemand is van belang in mijn canon (jawel ik heb een eigen canon)).
-De Amerikaanse professor Noel Ignatiev (1949 - 2019)  is in mijn database gesukkeld toen ik een recensie schreef over 'Whiteshift', onder de titel 'Beige is het nieuwe wit' in het begin van dit jaar, gepubliceerd op Liberales.
-Wat is er zo bijzonder aan [[Noel Ignatiev]]. Hij was van mening dat het witte ras moet verdwijnen. Witheid moet weg.
-Ik kan helaas niet linken naar de video waarin deze Amerikaanse prof pleit voor de afschaffing van 'witheid' omdat alle kopieën van deze video op extreemrechtse sites staan. Het is verwonderlijk dat als je dingen opzoekt over een extreemlinkse denker, dat je alleen maar terecht komt op sites van exact de tegenovergestelde ideologische strekking.

-Vandaag leerde ik [[Fatiha Agag-Boudjahlat]] (Frankrijk, 1979) kennen via DM. Wat een helderheid van denken.
-Mevrouw Boudjahlat had vorig jaar een schermutseling met een zekere mevrouw [[Rokhaya Diallo]]. Die laatste beschuldigde haar van oproep tot verkrachting. De context, ik citeer uit DM van eergisteren: "De confrontatie ging over de hoofddoek. Bedekte vrouwen, legde de niet-gehoofddoekte Diallo uit op Twitter, laten zien dat hun lichaam niet ter beschikking staat van mannen. Reactie van Agag-Boudjahlat: "Mededeling voor iedereen die zijn handen niet thuis kan houden: Diallo is een lichaam dat tot uw beschikking staat.""
-Het hoofddoekendebat is een wespennest geworden waar men zijn woorden heel precies moet afwegen. Het helpt als je dan rigoureuze denkers zoals Boudjahlat op je pad treft. En omdat je in het identiteitsdebat sowieso niets meer in naam van een ander mag zeggen, verheugt het me als 'blanke oude man' dat m'n gedachten met zoveel nauwkeurigheid verwoord worden door een jonge maghrebine.

-Vladimir Bukovsky was een mensenrechtenactivist en Sovjet dissident.
-Ik ben een kind van de Koude Oorlog en ik herinner me nog precies waar ik was toen de Berlijnse muur viel.
-Terwijl ik nooit sympathie voor de Sovjet-Unie heb gehad, had ik dat wel voor het communisme als ideaal, die droom van gelijkheid en gerechtigheid die misschien voor voor het eerst met zoveel woorden (vrijheid, gelijkheid en broederschap) werd tijdens de Franse Revolutie. In de jaren zeventig, toen ik opgroeide, was er Sartre met zijn 'Mains sales' ("sociale klasse moet uit de wereld geholpen worden, koste wat het kost"), er was Che Guevara, er waren de hippies en er was Jacques Brel die zong hoe de bourgeois varkens waren, hoe ouder ze werden hoe dwazer.
-Tot zover het ideaal.
-Het contrast met het gruwelijke fiasco van het eerste communistische systeem (de Sovjet-Unie) kon niet groter zijn. Alle daaropvolgende communistische systemen brachten het er niet beter vanaf en nadat ik in 1989 een half jaar in China woonde en er vorig jaar terugkeerde om mijn dochter te bezoeken weet ik uit ervaring hoe vreselijk communistische systemen zijn.
-Toch is het niet zo verwonderlijk dat het communisme, dit 'opium voor de intellectuelen', zo'n grote aantrekkingskracht blijft uitoefenen vooral op een moment dat de aarde, een eindige taart, gulzig opgeslokt wordt door al wie nog snel het laatste stukje door zijn strot wil rammen. Die 'race to the bottom' heeft tot gevolg: vervuilde lucht, vervuild water en verknipte landschappen. Lucht, water, natuur, het zijn essentiële 'grondstoffen' die gratis en aan iedereen zouden moeten toebehoren.
-Daarom noem ik mezelf tegenwoordig soms een 'commonist'.
-Maar terug naar het onderwerp. De dissident Bukovsky, de man die een pamflet schreef met de titel 'Manual on Psychiatry for Dissidents' (1974) op een moment dat duizenden dissidenten (en hijzelf) opgesloten waren in Sovjet psychiatrische ziekenhuizen/gevangenissen. Die handleiding gaf tips hoe je je als potentieel slachtoffer van politieke psychiatrie tijdens ondervragingen moest gedragen om te vermijden als mentaal ziek gediagnosticeerd te worden.
-Bukovsky komt uitvoerig aan het woord in de documentaire 'The Soviet Story' (2008), die op YouTube te vinden is zonder ondertitels voor de stukken in het Russisch. Deze docu zal wel zijn gebreken hebben, en hij werd onder andere gefinancierd door een rechtse Europese politieke groepering, maar hij is toch interessant.
