La Vérité sortant du puits, armée de son martinet pour châtier l'humanité[1] (1896, English: Truth Rising from her Well) is a painting by Jean-Léon Gérôme located in the Museum Anne-de-Beaujeu. The woman is naked and carries a scourge, "to punish mankind", as the title says.
