"L'Instinct de mort" is an autobiographical book by French criminal and public enemy Jacques Mesrine, published by Éditions Jean-Claude Lattès in 1977. The book has been adapted on screen and directed by Jean-François Richet, featuring Vincent Cassel as Mesrine. The film was released in 2008 in two parts, the first Public Enemy Number One (Part 1), the second "Public Enemy Number One (Part 2)".
