Kathleen Murphy is a United States film scholar.

In 1990, Dr. Murphy was appointed Writer-in-Residence at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York and Contributing Editor of “Film Comment” magazine. Her writing on film, culture and psychology has been collected in numerous books and published in many journals, magazines and websites.
