John Holmes (born 1935 Scotland) is a self taught artist who works into wax with razor and wire wool. He worked as a meat porter in London's East End, was made redundant and then made a living as an artist. Holmes produced quite a few cover paintings in the 1970s, mostly for horror and science fiction titles. His most famous work is the original cover from The Female Eunuch.
