Jacques Kets (November 10 1785 - February 1 1865) was a naturalist and the first director of the Antwerp Zoo, appointed in 1843. As a result he was immediately able to accommodate his renowned collection of stuffed animals, shells and ethnographic objects in one of the new buildings. In 2007, a exhibition showcased the ZOO's collection of curiosities telling the tale of its origin and development with such treasures as embryos, skeletons, stuffed animals, strange skins and eggs, films and photos.
