"If Men Could Menstruate" (1978) is an essay by Gloria Steinem. The essay is collected in Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions .

It was first published in the October 1978 edition of Ms.. The story imagined a world in which men menstruate instead of women. Steinem concludes that in such a world, menstruation would become a badge of honor with men comparing their relative sufferings, rather than the source of shame that it had been for women.
