Henry Holt (1840–1926) was a Baltimore, Maryland native book publisher and author. He joined the publishing company of Frederick Leypoldt in 1866 that became Henry Holt and Company in 1873. Holt's company specialized in publishing and did not sell books at retail. This company became part of Holt, Rinehart and Winston (HRW) in 1960. HRW was bought in 1986 by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, which kept the textbook business and sold the retail publishing arm along with the original name of Henry Holt & Company to the Georg von Holtzbrinck Publishing Group of Germany.

Holt's autobiography was Garrulities of an Octogenarian Editor (1923). Kessinger Publishing 2005: ISBN 1-4179-1813-6
