Drowning Girl[1] is a 1963 painting by Roy Lichtenstein based on the splash page of "Run for Love!", a melodramatic romance story in DC Comics' Secret Hearts #83 (November 1962).

Lichtenstein slightly reworked the art and dialogue, and re-lettered Ira Schnapp's original word balloon from "I don't care if I have a cramp! ... I'd rather sink! ... than call Mal for help!" to "I don't care! ... I'd rather sink! ... than call Brad for help!".

He changed the boyfriend's name she calls out from Mal to Brad. In the original illustration, the drowning girl's boyfriend appears in the background. Lichtenstein cropped the image, focusing on the girl, threatened by a wave. He boyfriend's name she calls out from Mal to Brad. Lichtenstein also manually simulated the Benday dots used in the mechanical reproduction of images.

Drowning Girl is now part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
