The Canonical Gospels are the four accounts of the life of Jesus central to the Christian Canon. All other gospels are referred to as non-canonical. In the days of the Early Church (before 325) there were a number of accounts of the life of Jesus Christ in circulation, but only four accounts were considered reliable enough to be accepted as part of the Canon of the New Testament.
