In July 1531, Michael Servetus published De trinitatis erroribus ("On the Errors of the Trinity"). He took on the pseudonym Michel de Villeneuve (i.e., "Michael from Villanueva"), to avoid persecution by the ecclesiastical authorities in power at the time because of these religious work.
