A multiple-use name is a name used by many different people. It is a strategy that has been adopted by many unconnected radical and cultural groups, where the construct of personal identity has been criticised.
A collective name or collective pseudonym is one shared by two or more persons. This is sometimes used by the co-authors of a work, such as Ellery Queen.
Examples of multiple user names include:
- Pierre Marteau
- Captain Swing

- Nicolas Bourbaki
- Luther Blissett
- Ned Ludd
- Wally
- Monty Cantsin
- Rrose Sélavy
