Actuel is a French general interest magazine .
From 1968 to 1970 Actuel was a magazine dedicated to music; first to jazz and then to pop music. It wasn't untill Jean-François Bizot took charge of the title in May 1970 that the hippie culture was introduced. Leftist and social activist, Actuel is involved with all countercultures and subjects such as drugs, feminism, rock music and ecology.

- L'équipe du journal est notamment composée de Michel-Antoine Burnier, Patrick Rambaud et Bernard Kouchner, rejoints plus tard par Claudine Maugendre, Jean-Pierre Lentin, Léon Mercadet, Patrice Van Eersel, Patrick Zerbib, Jean Rouzaud, Frédéric Joignot, Philippe Aubert, Jocie Drehaut, Philippe Vandel, Ariel Wizman, Frédéric Taddeï, Bernard Zekri et bien d'autres.
- Actuel a par ailleurs publié de la bande dessinée, notamment par Robert Crumb.
- La première formule cesse en 1975, d'une façon inattendue puisque le journal se saborde, estimant ne pas se renouveler et ne rien avoir à dire dans l'immédiat. Actuel renaît en 1979 dans le quartier Bastille ( 11ème arrondissement) et s'impose comme le mensuel branché et agitateur d'idées des années 80 puis disparaît à nouveau en 1994.L'équipe du mensuel toujours autour de Bizot a lancé entre-temps Radio Nova puis Nova Magazine, journal des sorties parisiennes, destiné à la jeunesse.
