The murder of Samuel Paty, a French middle-school teacher, occurred in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, France, a Paris suburb, on 16 October 2020. Paty was beheaded in an apparent act of Islamist terrorism. The motive appears to have been that Paty showed his students a depiction of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.
