A History of Erotic Literature (1982) is a study of erotic literature by Patrick J. Kearney. It is the standard book on erotic literature by and references Gershon Legman, Wayland Young and Pascal Pia. With ample attention to writers, publishers, regions, eras, censorship issues, it is a classic study in the field.
The history starts in the 17th century with John Wilmot and Pietro Aretino and skips ancient erotic literature.
