A Series of Unfortunate Events is a 1999-2006 children's book series, written by Daniel Handler under the pseudonym of Lemony Snicket, and illustrated by Brett Helquist.

A film version based on the first three books in the series, The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room, and The Wide Window, was released on December 17, 2004, as Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
