A radical design operation would, thus, imply not so much returning to the protohistorical and functional reasons for the artifact's existence and stripping it bare of any social and private meanings it may have been assigned, but, rather, becoming conscious of this meaning-accrual process and designing the domestic environment in such an adaptive way that it may satisfy the requirements for the enactment of any play, regardless of its origin — whether Proustian or Strindbergian.
