Masscheroen is the title of a 1968 play by Hugo Claus, which has been the object of an obscenity trial in Belgium after it was performed at the second festival of experimental film EXPRMNTL in Knokke. It starred Pernath, de Vree and Bob Cobbing in the nude as the Holy Trinity.

The figure of Maskeroen was a procuror of Lucifer in 14th century Flemish poem. Jacob van Maerlant's Maskeroen is based on a lost Latin source that has come down to us in the form of a late medieval printed text, the Litigacio Mascaron contra genus humanum.

Simon Vinkenoog remembers it like this:

"Freddy de Vree als Jezus Christus, Hugues C.Pernath en Bob Cobbing, tijdens een Festival van Experimentele Films in het Casino van Knokke opgevoerd, leidde tot een van die treurige processen waarmee wij in Nederland en België van tijd tot tijd geconfronteerd worden, als het om provocerende grensverkenningen gaat. De helaas te vroeg overleden Freddy de Vree leverde voor deze studie een bijdrage over Claus en de jaren 60. Hierin komt ook een vermakelijk verslag voor van de Brusselse Paleisrevolutie-avond in Brussel september 1966. Kostelijk, misschien moet ik het ich-chi-hic tevoorschijn halen, pagina's 146 t/m148, en vervolgens naar pagina 157/8.
