Jaded means worn out, wearied, or lacking enthusiasm, exhausted or cynically insensitive; made callous by experience as in "Des Esseintes is the jaded protagonist of Against the Grain".
[edit]
Etymology
From jade, a worn-out horse, possibly from Old Norse jalda "mare". As a term of abuse for a woman, it dates from 1560. [1]
